Obituary for John D. Clark Jr.

John D.  Clark Jr.
Frankfort – John D. Clark, Jr., age 77, passed away Monday, March 13, 2017 in Frankfort. Services for Mr. Clark will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 17, 2017 at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home with Rev. Gordon Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2017.

Mr. Clark was born in Frankfort on April 23, 1939 to the late John Dillon Clark, Sr. and Dorothy Simpson Abney. He was united in marriage to his loving wife Hallie Frances McDonald Clark, of Frankfort. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving federal active duty during the Berlin Crisis of 1961. He also excelled as a police officer and detective for the Frankfort Police Department. For 25 years, he drove an 18-wheeler across country for B&J Trucking. He was also an excellent auto and boat mechanic, where he worked at B&H Automotive during his youth. Mr. Clark was an avid Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and University of Kentucky sports fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Dennis Clark and Mary Riddle and by his step-parents, Virginia Clark and Cecil Abney.

Along with his wife, Hallie, he is survived by his children, Vickie (Robert) Kessler and Charles “Chase” Clark; his brother, Cleveland “Bucky” Clark; and his grandson, Guy Kurtis Kessler. He was also blessed with a special friend, Kenneth Brown, as well as many wonderful friends and several nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Kessler, Guy Kurtis Kessler, Ken Brown, Lawrence Hoover, Danny Lee Clark, and Brandon Clark. Honorary will be Bob Hartness, Wayne Harrod, Bobby Courtney, and Butch Harrod.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.

Arrangements are under the direction of Harrod Brothers Funeral Home.
