Obituary for Bradley Wayne Girkey

Frankfort – Bradley Wayne “Brad” Girkey, age 51, passed away in Frankfort on Sunday, February 12, 2017. A memorial service will be held at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2017 with Rev. Mike Napier officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until service time on Thursday.

Brad was born in Frankfort, Kentucky on September 29, 1965 to the late Jesse Clarence Girkey, Jr., and Clara Mae Roberts Girkey, of Frankfort. He was an employee of Kentucky State Government for 20 years where he served as the Interstate Coordinator. Brad was an avid outdoorsman, especially enjoying hunting, and fishing anywhere, anytime. He specially cherished pastimes fishing with his mother. He had a great sense of humor and a wonderful personality.

In addition to his mother, he is also survived by his brother, Mark Kevin Girkey and wife Carol Ann, of Frankfort; his nephew, Kevin Daviess Girkey; and by his special friends, Lesley Lee and Brannon Hicks. He was also blessed with many wonderful friends who loved him dearly.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 21903, Lexington, Kentucky, 40522.

Arrangements are under the direction of Harrod Brothers Funeral Home.
