Obituary for Donald Rayborn

Frankfort – Donald Rayborn, age 80, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 15, 2016. Services for Mr. Rayborn will be held 10:30 a.m. at Faith Baptist Church on Friday, November 18, 2016 with Rev. Everett Hawkins officiating, assisted by Rev. David Rayborn. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home on Thursday, November 17, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Mr. Rayborn was born in Fayette County, Kentucky on December 26, 1935 to the late Augustus and Ella Mae Neil Rayborn. He was united in marriage for 50 years to the love of his life, Christine Cottongim Rayborn, who also preceded him in death. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, a mechanic for Butternut Bread Co., and a farmer. He loved music and to play the guitar. Above all, he loved his family and his many friends.

Along with his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his daughters, Joyce (Mike) Barlow and Teresa (Larry) Norton; his son, Bill (Missy) Rayborn; his sisters-in-law, Nancy Rayborn, Marie Rayborn, Catherine Thompson and Audrey Quearry; his brothers-in-law, Vearl Cottongim, Kenneth Cottongim and Dearl (Barbara) Cottongim. He was also blessed with his grandchildren, Daniel (Sarah) Barlow, Steven Barlow, Matthew Norton, Katie Norton and Olivia Rayborn.

Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 663 Teton Trail, Frankfort, KY 40601, Faith Baptist Church, 50 Bridgeport-Benson Road, Frankfort, KY 40601, or the Arthritis Foundation, 1355b Peachtree Street NE, Suite 600, Atlanta GA 30309.
