Frankfort – Dorothy Louise “Dot” Karsner Mefford, age 88, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2016 at her home. Services for Mrs. Mefford will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Peaks Mill Christian Church with Bro. Ronnie McKinney officiating. Burial will follow at Peaks Mill Cemetery. Visitation will be at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and at Peaks Mill Christian Church on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.

Mrs. Mefford was born in Frankfort, Kentucky on March 29, 1928 to the late Joseph Henry and Corrine Brammell Karsner. She was united in marriage to her husband of 70 years, Billy Mefford, of Frankfort. She retired from the Kentucky State Government Department of Education after 33 years. She was a dedicated member of Peaks Mill Christian Church. She loved her kids and grandkids dearly, and cherished every visit to the farm.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, JoAnn Karsner Wiley and her brother, James Karsner.

She is survived by her husband, Billy Mefford; by her sons, Joe (Janice) Mefford and Donald (Diana) Mefford, all of Frankfort; by her daughters, Jeannie (James) Kemper, of Frankfort, Patty (Mark) Gardner, of Lexington, and Lynne (Joe) DeRuntz, of Columbus, Ohio; by her sisters, Jeanne Costigan, of Frankfort and Donna Phillips, of Maysville, Kentucky; by her sisters-in-law, Martel Karsner and Joann Schrader, both of Frankfort. She was also blessed with 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mrs. Mefford’s grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Hospice of the Bluegrass, 663 Teton Trail, Frankfort, Kentucky 40601.
